About Us
The Center for First-Generation Success is on a mission to advance the achievements of first-generation college students, guided by the pillars of advocacy, mentorship, community & belonging, and comprehensive resource connections. As a student-centered space, we uplift students and their experience as we acknowledge the challenges and celebrate the triumphs that are unique to the first-gen experience.
Our journey began as the Center for First-Generation Access in 2019, laying the groundwork for transformative initiatives like the Beacon Scholars program (now known as First-Generation Scholars). Since then, our impact has soared, reflected in the University's prestigious 2022 recognition as a First-gen Forward institution by NASPA– Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education and the Center for First-Generation Student Success.
We are continuously evolving to address the ever-changing needs of our first-gen students, as well as the unwavering support of our dedicated faculty and staff. Join us as we forge ahead, shaping the future of first-generation success one milestone at a time.
